Welcome to the main altar of the church. The unusual rendering of the Buddha, in mosaic, is the only one of its kind in the world and was created by Margaret Bruton of Monterey.
Notice the extensive use of teakwood, in the altar and the back walls–its availability was made possible with the cooperation of the government of Burma.
The altar itself resembles the shape of a large ship–it is called the Dharma Ship or the Ship of the Moral Truths by which one traverses the ocean of life.
Around our annual play season, this altar is converted for our theatrical purposes.
